Caring and Coping Dudley

Do you support a relative, friend or neighbour due to their mental illness? If so this course is for you.
“To engage in such a course was most uplifting and helpful. It is the first course in 14 years of caring that I have been able to do which is specific for mental illness”
This course is an education programme providing information and peer support for carers. The course also provides an opportunity for carers to develop their practical skills in areas of communication, coping strategies and self- help.
Who is it for?
The course is aimed at anyone who is caring for a family member or friend who is aged over 18 years old.
The content and length of the course is based on local need.
Sessions include;
- What does it mean to be a carer?
- Understanding mental health and mental illness
- what does mental illness feel like?
- The impact of mental illness
- The carer’s journey
- Looking after yourself
- The law and the mental health system
- Treatments and therapies
- Money benefits
- Dealing with challenges
Why do Caring and Coping training
- Meet other people in a similar position and share experiences
- Learn coping strategies
- Become informed
- Understand your rights
- Explore how to look after yourself
- Gain confidence in your caring role
This 6 week Course starts on Monday 22nd August 10.30am till 12.30pm 120 Criterion House King street Dudley DY2 8NZ
